Why Toy Model Trains Are So Addicting and Why They Aren"t Just For Little Kids!

As Thomas the Train enlightened young boy's fantasies and filled the thoughts of those who have been awed by those magnificent machines...
toy trains offer an incredible addiction to many.
Young boys dazzle at the talking trains on their TVs and don't understand what makes the trains so wonderful.
However, as boys grow-up they start to realize what it was that captured them when they were young and stayed with them as adults - control over a massive powerful machine! What is it that drives men to play with "toys"? It may be that they're mesmerized by the thought of taking charge of something so powerful even if they are 1/87 of the real size.
Perhaps it's the puzzle of how trains work - the electricity streaming through the lines to make it all work.
Or it may be because trains are very organized - only able to run on its own track.
Or maybe it's the memories of watching the toy train whirling around the Christmas tree every year that makes us want to relive the experience through our "toy" trains.
Actually, the word toy is not very accurate when talking about model trains.
These toys have grown-up into incredibly cool machines and are ready to play with the big boys! Toy trains are typically the cheap plastic trains you find on sale during your Christmas shopping.
They're low quality and priced as a great way to expose kids to the model train hobby.
When boys grow-up, they become men.
When toy trains grow-up, they are called locomotives.
Locomotives are made to last a long time as they are much higher quality compared to the cheap plastic "department store" trains.
The wheels of the locomotives are made to have better contact with the train tracks to enable a good connection to the electricity and get the train moving easily.
These are things that make model railroaders smile! Additionally, locomotives have much better and stronger engines.
A strong engine = better pulling power.
A high quality locomotive is also made out of metal instead of plastic like the cheaper toy trains.
The weight of the train also has a significant effect on how well the train will perform.
The heavier the train, the better it'll make contact with the train track and therefore, a better running train.
Furthermore, if the electricity wasn't good enough, the marvelous model train industry makers offer steam engines for the little boys inside grown men.
There's nothing better than enjoying trains with lifelike steam filling their scenery.
Not too many boys will get to grow-up and actually take command of a real train.
I'm sure actual train conductors look at the work they do as a job rather than a little boy's lifelong dream.
However, all of us don't have to grow-up to be train conductors to fulfill our dreams.
We can immerse ourselves in the great hobby so many of us love - model trains!
