    Engine

    • All 2007 BMW Z4s feature an in-line six-cylinder, 3-liter engine. The standard model of this engine produces 215 horsepower, along with 185 pound-feet of torque and is found in the base Z4. The higher-performance version, the 3.0si, produces 255 horsepower and 220 pound-feet of torque despite retaining the same displacement and basic engine configuration.

    Body Styles

    • The vehicle was available as a hardtop or a convertible, with both versions featuring two seats and the same drive-line elements. The convertible version has a cloth top that is manually operated in the base model and electrically controlled in the more expensive premium version. Both soft tops feature a heated rear glass window as opposed to a plastic rear window found on many less expensive convertible cars.

    Performance

    • All Z4s feature a six-speed manual transmission as standard equipment and a six-speed automatic as an option. The 3.0si with a manual gearbox is the fastest version, going from 0 to 60 mph in in 5.6 seconds. Vehicles with the manual gearbox are rated at 20 mpg in the city and 29 mpg highway. The automatic transmission gets slightly better fuel economy and is rated 21 and 30 mpg, respectively.
