How Can I Sell Stuff on eBay?

103 21
This is one of the most frequently asked questions on eBay but I think that the main meaning behind the question is actually 'where can I get stuff to sell on eBay' most people I think would agree that if you could get the right stuff to sell at the right price then selling it would not be such a problem? Let us explore a few different options together.
But trust me, there is no magic wand.
Firstly I should just like to make this point, this is not a game it is a very serious business.
Let us assume just for a moment that you find a distributor who is willing to supply you with merchandise and you reach an agreement with them and everything is going fine.
Let us take it a year down the road and you have a good following on eBay, you have both your regulars and your new customers and everything is going great, your feedback is good, eBay is pleased with you and you have a good understanding with your supplier, Christmas is on the way, orders are coming in and everybody is happy, and then..
...
  • You receive twenty orders from customers, and so you place the orders by email to your supplier for them and you get this email back: Sorry we are out of stock at the moment.
    Merry Christmas.
  • Now that would be bad enough if you owned a shop but on eBay it would be a disaster.
Because you would get twenty very dissatisfied customers who would almost all leave you a bad feedback, and eBay wouldn't be too happy about that either, a year's work down the drain.
    Happy New Year!
We all know that even the biggest stores run out of stuff at Christmas, especially stores like toys-r-us and Wal-Marts and so on, but they are not relying on eBay or Drop shippers are they? Sometimes we can be sitting so close to the solution that we do not see it, here are a couple of ideas, and at the end the day all that you really need is one good idea and maybe just a touch of good fortune.
Try to avoid drop shippers if you can.
Not easy I know.
They paint such a rosy picture (until it all goes wrong) then of course it's never their fault.
Try these ideas first.
  1. Go into Google and type in Thomas Register then look for a company that has the type of merchandise that you would like to sell, not a drop shipper but a manufacturer.
Then narrow the search down and see if there is one anywhere near where you live.
    There often is.
That way you can cut out the drop shipper plus you can deal directly with the manufacturer yourself, so you save all the way round plus manufacturers very rarely run out of stock (and you save on postage as well).
  2. Another very good option is this: Go back in to Google and type in: Wholesale Trade ShowsI think that almost every major city in America has Trade shows, of course they may not have the one that you want but then again it doesn't hurt to look (there maybe one nearby) keep in mind that their only reason for being at a trade Show is to get Distributors to distribute their merchandise, so why not you?
Just as a parting thought the two groups that we have just discussed, these are the people that supply Drop shipper companies, they are the ones that get the profit from between you and the manufacturer, why let them have it? always deal with the manufacturers if you possibly can, Good Luck and Good Hunting.
