New York City is the most populated city in the United States and has a thriving nightlife scene. Single people age 50 and older who are looking to go out, have fun and meet people have several options in New York City because plenty of bars and clubs cater to that crowd. Keep in mind that clubs are open to everyone of legal age, so there may be non-single people or people that are younger than 50. - The 55 Bar is a small jazz club that offers two shows each night, usually by the same group. On weeknights the early show begins at 7 p.m., and the late show begins at 10 p.m. On weekends the early show begins at 6 p.m., and the late show begins at 9:30 p.m. There is always a cover, which is usually around $10, and there is a two-drink minimum. Because the club is small, it's easy for the 50-plus crowd to meet new people and have a conversation or just sit back and enjoy the show. Get there early for a good spot because the club fills up fast.

The 50-plus crowd that visits the club favors the ambiance. Comfortable wood tables adorn the club, so there's no need to stand all night in a crowded room. The music caters more to the Baby Boomer crowd as well, with classic rock and Top 40 playing most nights. The Emerald Pub is open from 11:30 a.m. until 4 a.m. everyday. Lunch and dinner are served daily.
