Birth Chart Astrology: Uranus " The Awakener

Having wrote about the Ego and the Tool planets, I now move on to the 'Outer' planets.
There are three of them, which have been aptly named 'the Ambassadors of the Universe'.
All the other planets can be seen by the naked eye, and this corresponds to our natural psychological drives that we use automatically.
However, a telescope is needed to see the 'outer' planets, we need to develop deeper insight.
This reflects our need to stretch and grow into the energies that these planets represent.
They are part of our Solar system and we all have these higher qualities of potential within us.
As the old axiom goes, 'As above so below'.
The more one studies astrology the more this statement is apparent! These outer planets remind us that we are part of a greater whole.
Although we all need to learn to cultivate their qualities within ourselves, indeed this is part of our evolution, they should come with a statement that says, 'not for personal use only!' At some point in our lives we must acknowledge that we are part of the collective consciousness.
Uranus--The Awakener Like the other two planets.
Uranus is part of our 'higher self' that enables us to connect to the collective consciousness.
It is an active creative intelligence, not just an academic intelligence.
It is of a higher mind that can perceive better ways to do things or look for new alternatives.
It is the inventor, the rebel and the true individual who sees the madness of the crowd and choose to go his or her own way or tries to convince others that there are better alternatives.
Uranus awakens us to new possibilities and to wider choices and can bring out our uniqueness; this being our very own individual qualities that are the results of the process of our own evolutionary journey.
The Revolutionary Spirit Technology and the internet has revolutionised our lives and the people who have pioneered this would have been operating from Uranus.
Mercury, if you remember, represented our communication skills.
Uranus is said to be the higher octave of Mercury, therefore its range is wider and of a higher dimension.
Because of this it can amass, store and organise much more information with speed and accuracy.
It is very much associated with intuition, which is the sixth sense that humanity is in the process of developing.
Learning to trust this, is something we all need to do.
Having a great idea, creating a new vision, for example, restoring an old property.
The world is forever changing.
Political and social structures change.
It is the Uranus in us that wakes up the need to revisit how we address issues in more appropriate ways.
This reinforces the Uranuian influence from the personal to the collective.
It is literally our ability to be able to 'think out of the box'.
It is a revolutionary Spirit that needs freedom to be him or herself and looks for a new form of security as he pushes the boundaries to create both.
'The Entrepreneur' is very much a Uranuian Archetype in this respect.
This is the quantum leap from Saturn to Uranus.
A strong Uranuian quality gives a person the confidence to rebuild or create again, even when left with nothing.
This is true security, as the creative and inventive impulse is within, therefore Uranus need not be too attached to anything! Uranus in the Birth Chart Because of its higher vibrations Uranus can quicken or make erratic any planet it touches.
If it has an aspect to Mercury, a planet of natural affinity, it can make one highly strung.
(Mercury is much to do with the nervous system) It can also give you an aptitude for technology or an interest in anything of higher mind or even the occult.
In conjunction with the Sun, Uranus will be developing and expressing its own individuality.
To give you an example of this; a man I know well has Sun conjunct Uranus in Cancer.
He is a lovely caring and sensitive chap, but he has not got a strong sense of self.
He uses his Uranus to be awkward as this is the only way he can be assertive.
This is part of his process in developing his individuality, and from time to time we all play a somewhat suffering part in this! Uranus in aspect to the Moon, we could be in the process of becoming more independent of our family dynamics.
Wanting to be different or maybe feeling different in some way, could well make you feel like the black sheep, as you do not want to conform.
Uranus with Venus may need freedom within a relationship or look for different types of partnerships that allow the 'whacky' in us to be expressed.
It could also add flair or anything that makes a statement to the Feminine.
Mars and Uranus could well produce the rebel or a strong need to assert ones' independence and authority.
Jupiter's love of freedom and higher vision mixes well with Uranus and they have many similarities, the difference being that Jupiter can become attached to its opinions, beliefs and any material bounty.
Although Jupiter looks for the bigger picture, Uranus knows it and is aware of the greater plan for the Universe.
It has a greater sense of wholeness and is part of the divine spark of individuality, which we all need to reach.
Not for Personal Use Only! In the process of our evolutionary growth we are learning to harness the higher energy of Uranus.
On a personal level it is the essence of our individuality, which belongs to our higher-self, and is not of the little Ego.
The more conscious we become, the more in touch we are with our true spirit.
We realise that we are part of a greater whole and we then begin to work for the greater good.
I will give you two examples of how Uranus can operate.
A friend of mine has Uranus on her Aries Sun by transit.
She became involved and is now a chief Spokeswoman for a local campaign against drilling the earth for oil.
She is seeing the wider picture and realising what harm it could cause to the environment in the future.
By doing this she is crusading for the good of the whole, but is also leaning to develop her own individuality.
Another friend who has been a seeker of higher knowledge all her life, now has Uranus conjunct her Moon by transit.
A retired teacher, she scans the internet for useful information and knowledge and posts it to different groups with whom she is involved.
This is another example of working for the greater good as she does her bit in helping others to become more aware.
Although both women are working for the greater whole they are also gaining a great deal of self-satisfaction in the process and enhancing their own individuality in this, 'all win', bargain.
As we learn how to use Uranus we eventually grow into our uniqueness, then this higher quality is used for the good of the whole.
To sum up Uranus it is the revolutionary spirit that urges and sometimes pushes us to express our own brand of uniqueness.
A fully integrated Uranian individual will not only sing, 'I am what I am', but will use this for the betterment of all.
