How common is spirit communication? Good question.
The truth is, while many people won't speak about it to others, apparitional experiences, or the awareness of a loved one AFTER they've passed is very, very common.
Some studies suggest that 80% of parents who lose a child will have a lucid, vivid and hyper real experience with their child, WELL after they've died.
So too do many spouses report seeing, strongly sensing for HEARING their life partner (or spiritual soulmate) well after they've crossed, many reporting this happening regularly, or many times.
Do spirits always show up in "physical" form? Absolutely not.
Many times it's an auditory experience, or a strong psychic feeling of "knowing" they are there.
For example, my Grandmother, who was very psychic herself, told me how she could feel my grandfather sometimes in bed, well after he had passed...
wrapping his arms around her as she fell to sleep, much the way he had done in life.
As a hard core skeptic at the time, when I would nod my head...
but suggest that maybe she was simply remembering how good that made her feel when he was alive, she would simply smile...
and tell me it wasn't a memory, but a real and genuine experience of his presence, and that one day, if I was lucky...
I'd be able to have a similar experience with someone I loved as much.
(it wasn't until I had my own apparitional experience, in a totally awake state, that I became open to the idea of an afterlife myself.
And my later conversation with a psychic medium that CONVINCED me beyond a shadow of a doubt) Do psychics appear in physical form to psychics, clairvoyants or mediums? Sometimes, but not always.
My favorite medium tells me that she gets psychic impressions of thoughts, feeling and ideas that she perceives as coming telephonically from the mind of the discarnate (spirit) and never sees them at all.
Famous mediums like John Edward (who I've seen personally) describe it as talking to someone through a very thick, frosted glass window - he can hear muffled sounds, and make out general features, but can't get a clear visual.
Other mediums get VERY clear visual precepts of what a person looks like and can actually see them standing in the room with you, or behind you, while doing the reading.
One of the mediums I've been writing about recently actually draws a picture of the person that comes through while offering information, something that's very difficult for skeptics to explain, and very personal powerful PROOF as well.
Do you NEED to see a medium to have one of your loved ones come through? Absolutely not.
Most spirit communications happen spontaneously, without preparation and just appear.
After 20 years of exploring this field, I can honestly say that I believe that anyone who is truly OPEN to communicating with spirit can make it happen...
and if you are diligent, disciplined and allow yourself to BELIEVE, it can happen far faster than you can imagine as well.
