Australian dietary guidelines encourage mothers to feed their babies exclusively with breast milk until six months of age. Solid foods can be introduced at six months, but breastfeeding should continue until 12 months and beyond if the mother and the infant both wish. The Australian government is committed to and actively promotes breastfeeding for babies. - The National Healthy School Canteens Project is being developed in Australia to ensure that school children are provided with healthy lunches, which aid in reducing obesity and disease later in life. The Project consists of three main components: nutritional criteria categorizing foods served to children in school, training for school canteen staff, and evaluation.
