How to Stop Woodpeckers From Drilling
- 1). Use noise repellent to discourage woodpeckers from drilling. You can use your own repellent such as loud bird distress calls, rock music or purchase a device that is specially made for that purpose. Some common devices include bird banger rockets and screamers.
- 2). Stop woodpeckers from drilling holes by using visual repellents. Hang things such as plastic twirlers, strips of bright colored plastic, Mylar streamers or silver Mylar balloons along the area where they typically drill. Shiny objects that reflect sunlight will discourage woodpeckers from venturing near your home.
- 3). Leave trees that are dying or already dead around the area where the woodpeckers generally drill. Most times woodpeckers make cavities to find food or create nests. By leaving the trees around, you will encourage the woodpeckers to drill them instead of your property.
