Indoor water parks continue to gain popularity as a form of year-round entertainment, as most outdoor water parks are closed during the winter. Near Butler, Ohio, a nationally-branded hotel recently (2010) opened an indoor water park, even as a number of other indoor water parks are available in and around the Butler area. - The 100-room Comfort Inn South, 5.7 miles and 10 minutes from Butler, has a 6,000-square-foot Splash Harbor indoor water park with retractable roof. It features a 49-foot looping water slide, spray-ground with dumping buckets, shooting geysers, an adult hot tub and a tub for families, two water basketball hoops, a floating raft, and a 6 inch to 13 inch kiddy pool area. All hotel room rates include water park passes. Day passes are available for non hotel-guests. Hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. for guests, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for non-guests. Birthday packages are available. The hotel and water park are smoke-free facilities.

Entry fees (as of 2010) vary from $12 to $16, depending on the day of the week and the number of people in a group. The park opens at 4 p.m. weekdays and 12 noon on weekends, and closes at 9 or 10 p.m. Times may vary in accordance with school hours prevailing in the area. Guests are advised to bring beach towels as these are not supplied by the park. Children's parties have a 3-hour limit and reservations are required. A fixed menu is available, and only a birthday cake and ice cream are allowed to be brought in.
