    New England

    • Two Atlantic 10 institutions --- the University of Massachusetts Amherst and the University of Rhode Island --- are located in the northeastern region of the United States known as New England. The former is among the most prominent institutions of higher learning in the the Northeast and enrolls more than 21,000 undergraduates at any given time.

      The University of Rhode Island, which has an enrollment of approximately 13,000 undergraduates, has four campuses throughout the state. The main campus is located in Kingston.

    Mid-Atlantic

    • Half of the institutions in the Atlantic 10 conference are located in the United States' mid-Atlantic region: St. Bonaventure University and Fordham University in New York; LaSalle University, Saint Joseph's University, Temple University and Duquesne University in Pennsylvania; and George Washington University in Washington, D.C.

      Saint Joseph's University in the southwestern region of New York state is a Franciscan institution that enrolls 2,000 undergraduates and has 14 men's and women's athletic teams. Fordham, a Jesuit university founded in 1841, has three campuses, two in New York City and one in Westchester County.

      LaSalle, Saint Joseph's and Temple --- the 26th largest university in the country --- are located in Philadelphia. Duquesne, in Pittsburgh, enrolls nearly 6,000 undergraduates and has six men's and 10 women's varsity athletic teams.

      George Washington University, the alma mater of former first lady Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, was established in 1821 and is one of the oldest institutions in the conference.

    Midwest

    • Three well-known Catholic institutions in the Midwest are members of the Atlantic 10 conference, including Xavier University and the University of Dayton in Ohio. The former is the sixth-oldest Catholic university in the United States; the latter is the largest private university in the state.

      The other Midwest member school, Saint Louis University in Missouri, is the oldest university west of the Mississippi River and the second oldest Jesuit university in the country.

    Southeast

    • Two Atlantic 10 universities --- the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and University of Richmond in Virginia ---are located in the southeastern region of the United States. The former, established right after World War II, enrolls close to 20,000 undergraduates in seven schools.

      The University of Richmond was founded in 1830 as a private, liberal arts university. It encompasses five schools and enrolls more than 3,000 undergraduates. It offers 19 varsity sports.
