How to Calculate Fencing Cost

    • 1). Research the cost and length of one section of the type of fence you plan to install from your fencing manufacturer. For example, a section of 4-foot tall wrought iron fence might cost $100 and be 8 feet long.

    • 2). Measure the perimeter of the area you plan to fence in. For example, you might have a rectangular property that's 60 feet wide by 100 feet long, so your perimeter is 320 feet.

    • 3). Divide the perimeter by the length of the fence section. In the example, 320 feet / 8 feet is 40 sections of fence.

    • 4). Multiply the number of fence sections needed by the cost per section. In this example, 40 sections times $100 is $4,000 for the whole fence.
