When it starts warming up and getting sunny many people look outside and think about making a garden for many reasons.
Whether its to save money, or just to help improve the appearance of your home.
A garden will do just that and also help out the environment.
One of the most important things to consider if you are about to plant something is what type of soil is it going in to? Black dirt, which also has many other names will help you out more than you would think.
The term black dirt is given simply from its look.
The darker color is from dead plants or leaves which have broken down over the years into small microscopic organisms.
One of the biggest benefits to adding black dirt to your garden or lawn is the reduced amount of maintenance required.
The small bits of organic material in the soil helps with the two of the three most important things for plant growth.
The organic material increases the amount of air that gets to the plant as well as water.
The material creates air pockets in the soil which helps circulate the air which is required for strong roots.
It also provides excellent conditions for beneficial insects and worms which help keep the plant alive.
This also helps keep the soil loose and retain water much better! With the right soil the amount of work you have to do in order to keep everything healthy is significantly lower, which anyone can enjoy!
