Whether you're visiting for the theater, landmarks, art or history, one thing is certain: New York is a city rich with attractions for everyone, from excitement to fine dining. The city is home to many restaurants, some of which have a history as long as New York itself, filled with traditional fare to Hollywood fame and a little bit of the supernatural. - Established in 1837, Delmonico's Restaurant claims to be America's first fine dining restaurant. It pioneered such firsts as hosting a debutante ball outside of a private home, printed menus, Lobster Newberg and the term "86'd." The menu offers items like steak, veal, lobster, fish and several original dishes, such as Chicken a la Keene. Delmonico's does private catering and hosts private events.

delmonicosny.com - Originally a grocery store, Bridge Café has roots in New York history dating back to 1794. In 1922, during Prohibition, what was a saloon became a restaurant, and beer was provided to patrons by a bootlegger. The current Bridge Café was established in 1979, but the 1920s aesthetic stands, as well as the ghost stories. Bridge Café's menu features steak, crab cakes, lamb chops and corn and red onion fritters, with prices ranging from $8 to $35, as of September 2010. The café also has a wide selection of beers, scotch and wine.

From television ("Sex and the City") to film ("All About Eve"), presidents (every president except George W. Bush has dined at 21) to movie stars (Sammy Davis Jr. once tied a cravat around his head to meet the dress code), 21's history is as much about culture as it is food. The menus feature foods like caviar, oysters, lamb and veal, while the dessert menu has such treats as crème brûlée and two different soufflés.

Barbetta, which is a member of the prestigious Locali Storici d'Italia historical society, has a menu that features traditional Italian fare prepared as it would be in Italy. The wine list was awarded "Wine Enthusiast" magazine's Award of Ultimate Distinction in 2005. Barbetta claims to have the most romantic garden in New York, which is available for private parties and weddings.
