(LeBron calls Bosh) Bosh: Bron', what's happening? James: Not much man, just doing tons of interviews and promos for my new movie and book.
Bosh: Oh yeah I saw you on 'The View', and Jimmy Kimmel, and Letterman..
...
and...
James: Haha, yeah it's been crazy.
What about you? What you been doin'? Bosh: Awww, just resting my hammy right now.
I pulled it last week back in Dallas...
James: Oh, yeah I was at the Cowboys opening game at their new stadium..
..
Bosh: Really?? Man, how'd you score the tickets I thought it'd been sold out for months..
? James: Well...
you know..
..
Bosh: Haha, yeah I know...
why did I even ask..
..
James: So anyways, how you feelin' about next summer...
? Bosh: You know man...
we just gotta see what happens this year, I'm just hoping I don't get traded...
James: Yeah, well even if you do they'll probably send you to a non-playoff team where they can get a lot of young players in return..
Bosh: Oh, I know I've thought about it...
I just don't want to have to move in somewhere for a couple months, you know..
..
I hate moving..
..
James: Haha, yeah I know..
..
that's why I don't do it...
well..
..
not the only reason..
..
I'm also on a top 5 team..
...
Bosh: Yeah...
as if I don't know..
...
I'm just hoping we at least make the playoffs this year..
..
James: Man, I don't really remember what it's like not to make the playoffs..
(BEEP BEEP caller ID says - D-Wade calling...
) Hey can you hold on a min, D-Wade's calling me on the other line..
? Bosh: Yeah sure..
James: Thanks (switch calls) D-Wade what's up man?? Wade: Not much just cruisin' downtown with the top down...
James: Yeah, it nice down there...
? Wade: Uh yeah...
it's 85 degrees and sunny..
..
James: Man, that sounds good..
..
well I got CB on the other line but hey while I got you, what you thinkin' about next summer...
? Wade: I was calling to ask you the same thing...
you ready to come down here and win some championships where it's warm...
? James: Haha, yeah well we'd definitely win together but I just don't know about playing there...
I mean other than you your guys don't really defend..
..
Wade: Yeah but..
...
we have..
...
the Kardashian sisters down here..
..
..
James: Haha, nah I'm good..
...
but I'll call you after I'm down with Chris..
..
Wade: Cool, later..
..
James: Peace (click)..
...
aight' man...
sorry bout that..
..
Bosh: It's cool, what'd D-Wade say..
..
? James: Ahhh you know he still trying to get me to go down to Miami and play..
...
Bosh: I know me too! I mean it's nice down there and all but..
..
they just don't really play consistent defense..
...
James: Yeah, that's what I been tellin' him, but he just starts telling me about the weather and stuff..
...
Bosh: Yeah I know, he tells me the same thing..
...
but if I really wanted a house on the beach I'd have one..
..
James: Yeah I know, me too.
Plus he's already got a ring...
so..
..
Bosh: As if he hasn't rubbed that one in enough, and it always seems like he's hurt..
...
so would you really leave Cleveland..
..
James: I would for the right team but right now I can't see a reason to, we're a top 2-3 defensive team, we've got a lot of guys OK with being role players, and our ownership and management will do anything to make us happy...
Bosh: Yeah, I want to play together I just don't know if you guys would have room for me..
...
James: Don't worry man, they'll make room..
..
(wink wink*..
...
verbal of course) Bosh: Yeah I guess they would huh...
? James: No doubt..
...
well, I guess we'll just have to see what happens..
..
Bosh: Guess so man...
James: Wait a minute..
..
did you say you were watching 'The View'..
...
? etc..
..
..
..
..
..
..
..
We can only speculate of course what the private conversations between James, Bosh, and Wade are really like.
Of course, there will be the other free agents next summer..
..
like Amare Stodemire, Carlos Boozer, Paul Pierce and a guy named Kobe Bryant, but the likely hood of any of the guy's making major moves aside, the startling thing about the top 3 trio is that they were all top 5 picks in the 2003 NBA draft, they're perennial all-stars, they're all different positions and most recently they've all had their friendship made stronger by winning the gold medal on the storied "Redeem Team" of 2008.
It's the first time in league history three max contract franchise players can seemingly walk on to any team they choose with each other if they choose.
While there are a few teams that currently will have the cap space in 2010 to sign two max contracts that says little about the teams that currently do not have the room, because for the most part a lot of teams are close and could just as easily trade for some expiring contracts and create the room.
Either way the power is in the players hands, a crazy thought.
While all three players can make more money by simply re-signing with their teams the ability to win if on the same team has to be too enticing an idea to pass up for a few million, Plus, the endorsement money and bonuses from forming a historical duo and winning multiple championships would easily make up for some docked contract pay.
The general consensus is that LeBron is likely to stay put, more so than than the other two players, and why wouldn't he? He's in his hometown, plays for a legit contender and is part of a high character organization.
Dwyane Wade's city has been very good to him but if not for their 2006 championship season, it's not unlikely that he'd have been complaining and traded long ago.
Chris Bosh is the real focal point of this free agency in my opinion, for several reasons.
Obviously physically he is a new Kevin Garnett, but more important is his personality.
For one he is content with not being "The Guy" and would more than likely excel as a second option on offense.
This is where LeBron and Wade would not work out as well (one of the areas), as Kobe Bryant described his and Shaq's troubles co-existing because they were "two alpha males" and they simply both wanted to be "The Guy".
Bosh is not the dominant alpha male type that James and Wade are (site how loud and commanding James is and Wade's tendency to jump on the scorer's table while screaming "This is my house!" to his fans) and that ultimately makes him the perfect teammate for a superstar like LeBron or D-Wade.
Really the only appeal Miami has over Cleveland is the location which as I said early, is probably not as big a factor as it seems and even though Cleveland doesn't appear to have the cap space to sign both Bosh and James a couple trades of faded shooter Daniel Gibson and trouble role player Delonte West among others could easily make that room.
Either way it's these guys, the players, who are in the drivers seat on this one...
let's just hope they're equally as savvy off the court as they are on it!
