A permanent wave is a perm, which makes hair curly. A permanent wave contains chemicals that alter the hair structure. When you think of perms, you may remember the tightly curled perms of the 1980s. However, there are newer forms of permanent waves that are easier on the hair and that create more realistic curls. Permed hair is more fragile and requires proper car to prevent further damage. - Shoulder-length, wavy hair is a style that you can easily create if you have a permanent wave in your hair. This works well if your hair is not too curly and is just a loose wave. Keeping the hair around shoulder-length will allow the hair to be bouncy as it's not weighed down. Add layers in the front to frame the face. Avoid short bangs and opt for long ones that lay to the side.
- Use wavy bob style for your permanent wave hair. A bob hairstyle is classic and elegant and will give your hair curl and bounce. Long bangs and layers shape the bob around your face. As this is a classic bob hairstyle, the hair should be just around the same length all the way around. Add headbands or decorative clips to change up your look.
- Try a variation of an updo by wearing the hair half-up, with part of it left down. This is easy to style as all you need to do is sweep the hair back and clip it into place. As the hair is wavy or curly, you won't have to curl the rest of the hair. You pull back the hair starting at about one inch above the ear. To smooth it out, use an anti-frizz serum on the hair that also prevents fly-aways.
- A messy updo is a simple easy-to-do style if you have a permanent wave. Rather than a structured and classic updo, a messy updo is casual and even sexy. After twisting the hair up and pinning it into place, allow tendrils to hang down the back and the front. Use decorative clips on the sides to hold hair in place.
