In 1998, Alan and Vicki Greene invited Go Fish, The Master's Heirs and The Lighthouse to perform a concert on the lawn of the Good News Reformed Church in Sioux Falls, SD. 2000 people showed up and Lifelight was born.

One year later five bands peformed and the attendance doubled to 4000 people. By year four the festival had grown so much that the event had to be moved from the church lawn to the W.H.

Lyons Fairgrounds and 10,000 people came to hear 12 hours of music.

2002, year five, was the first 3-day event. LifeLight moved to the Sioux Empire Fair Grounds and had over 40 bands performing on 5 stages in front of 32,000 people. That growth was big, but it wasn't nearly as staggering as the numbers for 2003, when 110,000 came to celebrate Christ through music.

The seventh year of Lifelight grew even more. A massive 240,000 people came to the event (4-days) to hear over 100 artists perform on 7 stages. The festival was so huge that it became apparent that it had outgrown the fairgrounds. In 2005 Lifelight moved to Wild Water West Water Park Festival Grounds and welcomed 275,000 people.

2006, year nine for Lifelight, was back to a 3-day event, but 263,000 crammed a lot of great music and fellowship into those three days.

This coming August 31 - September 2, Lifelight will celebrate 10 years in Sioux Falls, SD at the Wild Water West Water Park. As it has been since day one, the event is still free, though food, camping and admission to the park itself are not free.
