When he is around a lot of other women, is he a little flirty with them or does he interact with them but keeps it strictly friendly? What's his maturity level like? (Chances are, that if it's rather low, he's not in a relationship-at least not a serious one, at all)

Getting closer
If you know him personally, and he has managed disguise his relationship status, you are again going to have to do some investigative work. Ask his close friends or even family-and if they do not know anything besides his last botched relationships, the runway should be fairly clear for take-off (hint-hint).

Seen a rock lately?
One of the easiest ways, by far, to know if he is with someone (well, at least engaged or married) is to gander at his ring finger(s). If there's a rock, other than a class ring or whatnot, it's a no-go. If there's no rock-well, you get the point.

Better yet
Just be up front, stop beating around the bush and ask him. If he is with someone, ask him how happy he is with her and if things are going good with the two of them. Even if you feel let down, try diligently not to show it. After all, you have pride and there are tons more men out there just waiting for you.
