Green tea has many benefits including reducing cholesterol, protecting against heart disease and diabetes as well as anti-aging benefits.
But here are 3 reasons to consider a green tea weight loss plan.
The first way that it helps with weight loss is by the antioxidants called cetechins, which are a sub-class of flavonoids.
A study released in the February issue of the Journal of Nutrition shows that when it and exercise are combined, the tummy area could be the first part of the body to release fat.
The study looked at 132 obese adults who consumed a consistent daily intake of calories and added in about 25 minutes per day of exercise.
The group was split in to two categories: One group added a drink daily of 39 milligrams of caffeine and the other group added a green tea drink with 625 milligrams of catechins.
After 12 weeks of observation, those that were drinking it had lost 2 pounds more than the control group, a total of 4.
4 pounds.
The group that consumed green tea also had a reduction in abdominal, subcutaneous abdominal fat as well as triglycerides.
Secondly, an antioxidant called epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG ) is believed to be responsible for stimulating the release of fat in to the blood stream after which it is  flushed out of the body.
It also increases a process called thermogenesis or the production of heat in the body.
It is also a source of caffeine which also plays a role in the thermogenesis process.
Thirdly, it helps to curb appetite.
Although it is unclear how green tea works in this area exactly, it is thought that the tea polyphenols have been known to elevate levels of cholecystokinin (CCK), a hormone which lowers the desire for food and decreases the ability for your body to digest fat as well.
If you are looking for something to help in your quest for health and weight loss, green tea should become part of your lifestyle plan.
It is rich in antioxidants which have many health benefits including weight loss.
