Do you remember the first instruction you had when you or your loved one was diagnosed with diabetes? Or the first instructions when you even begin to experience diabetic symptoms? I remember when my father was diagnosed with diabetes; the endocrinologist gave him a high carbohydrate food list.
The same holds true when my mother was caught with diabetic symptoms and this continued with my husband as well.
The endocrinologist handed over the high carbohydrate food list even before he handed over the prescription.
I will not indulge you here into the details of simple and complex carbohydrates.
Rather just after a brief introduction I will jot down the high carbohydrate food list.
This list will help you to be your own diabetic expert.
You will be in a better position of planning your diet after going through this list.
This diet will enable you to control the blood sugar levels.
Isn't it a treat! The blood glucose level control will be in your own hands just after spending here few minutes.
What Are carbohydrates? Carbohydrates are the main source of energy.
These are categorized as:
  1. Complex carbohydrates
  2. Simple carbohydrates
  3. Dietary fiber
A moderate consumption of these complex carbohydrates offers number of health advantages to diabetics.
It is recommended that meals should be designed in such a way that it contains all three kinds of carbohydrates.
But the major portion of the meal should come from proteins.
The unrefined carbohydrates are worthwhile for the diabetics.

It is surprising that not all of us gain weight with these foods.
So the question may arise that weather these foods are really those bad? The one word answer of this question is "NO".
Rather moderation is the key here.
One is allowed to select food items from the above list but these foods must be consumed in moderate amount.
Consuming 4 large mashed potatoes are very very bad; but eating one small sized baked potato is not that bad.
In the similar way eating one small square of chocolate is not that bad but eating a full big size chocolate bar is not good for the health of the diabetics.
