How to Open a BlackBerry Javelin
- 1). Turn the BlackBerry Javelin over. Push up on the battery cover latch, located near the bottom of the device, and then pull up on the cover to remove it. Pull up on the top of the battery to remove it, and then slide the microSD card to the left to remove it as well.
- 2). Place your pry tool underneath the plastic bezel that covers the bottom of the back of the device. Insert the tool under the bezel from either side and then lift up to pop the piece off of the phone. Flip the device over and remove the plastic cover at the top of the phone just as you removed the back piece.
- 3). Turn the Javelin over and remove the six T6 screws visible on the back side of the device. There is one screw in each corner, and one in the middle of each side. Pull up on the back housing to remove it.
- 4). Insert your pry tool underneath the control board on the right side of the device. Lift up on the tool to pop the connectors loose. Move to another area of that same side and repeat the process until the entire side of the control board is loose. Then lift up the control board and LCD to remove them from the front housing.
- 5). Find the ribbon connector in the lower right corner of the circuit board. Lift up to release it. Then lift up the bottom of the control board to see three additional connectors. Pull down on the connectors to release them, then place the board back down and pull up on the white antenna cable in the upper right corner of the board. Once all these connectors are loose, lift up to remove the control board.
- 6). Turn the device over. Insert your pry tool underneath the LCD and lift it up to loosen the tape that holds the LCD in place. Once the LCD is loose, lift it up slowly to remove it. You will have to carefully thread the cable that runs from the bottom of the LCD through a hole in the control board.
