Arthritis and Nightshades - Foods to Avoid

I damaged both of my knees when I was in my late teens.
After months of therapy for a dislocation and multiple tendon stretches, I started having arthritis pain.
My wife also suffers from arthritis in her hips.
Lucky for me, when my arthritis is at its worst, all I need to do is get off of my feet.
When my wife's flairs up, she is in pain even when she is sitting down.
I have done a ton of research to find ways to live with our arthritis and many of them have helped us a lot.
Unfortunately, I have also learned that we are in the percentage of people that have our arthritis aggravated by nightshade plants.
What are nightshades and how do they hurt us? Well, nightshades are a number of different plants that contain a high amount of alkaloids.
Unfortunately, nightshades include tomatoes, potatoes, eggplant and even peppers.
These vegetables are extremely healthy for almost every part of your body, except for your joints.
Now, if you are lucky, you will have no adverse affects from any of these vegetables.
But, if you are part of the majority, these vegetables can cause arthritic flair ups and can even cause arthritis in your joints.
The only way to know if you are affected by these vegetables is to cut them out of your diet and see if your arthritis gets better.
If it has no effect, continue to eat them.
After a dietary change where my wife and I started eating more vegetables and reduced our amount of red meat, we found out that we are both highly susceptible to nightshades.
While tending to my father's garden while he was out of town, my wife and I were eating handfuls of his cherry tomatoes every night.
Once my arthritis flared up to a point that even my daily consummation of Glucosamine and Chondroitin seemed to have no effect and my wife couldn't even get any relief from pain killers, we decided to stop eating nightshades for a few weeks.
After just a few days, both of our joints stopped bothering us.
We both found this very disheartening as we have been trying to live healthier for a while now.
I keep looking for other ways to remedy our arthritis.
I keep searching for new ideas on the Internet and have a friend who is currently investigating bee-sting therapy for arthritis.
