    • 1). Fill a coffee can with dry cement and add water according to the directions on the cement bag. Place the 36-inch solid metal pipe in the coffee can and mix the cement. Position the solid metal bar in the center of the coffee can and let the cement dry. If the cement is mixed too thin for the metal bar to stay standing on its own, you may need to prop the solid metal bar so it remains in the correct position while drying.

    • 2). Flip the ceramic cooking bowl upside down. Spread Gorilla Glue in the center of the bottom of the ceramic cooking bowl and place the other end of the 36-inch solid metal bar flush against the Gorilla Glue. Gorilla glue is a very strong adhesive that is 100 percent waterproof, which is important for a permanent fire pit that will always be outside. Let the glue dry to secure the bond. Now you have just an ugly, portable version of the finished product.

    • 3). Dig a hole in the area you would like your fire pit to be that is 3 inches wider and 8 inches deeper than the coffee can, then place the coffee can end of the fire pit into the hole. Mix two gallons of cement in a bucket with water and mix it according to the directions. Fill the hole with cement three inches above the coffee can. Fill in the remaining 5 inches of the hole with dirt and sprinkle with grass seed. Covering the cement with dirt and grass seed will make the fire pit look more natural as if it was sprouting from the ground.
