• Hannibal is located on the Mississippi River in northeastern Missouri and was the boyhood home of Samuel Langhorne Clemens, known as Mark Twain, one of America's most famous authors. Born in 1835, Twain based some of his novels, including The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, on his youthful experiences in Hannibal.
