How to Splice Coaxial

    • 1). Identify the correct setting for your size of coaxial cable on the coaxial cable stripper. The stripper will have the ability to correctly strip cables of several sizes, and the cable should have the size (e.g. RG59) either printed on the cable or the packaging it came with.

    • 2). Grip one of the ends you intend to splice firmly in the position on the coaxial cable stripper labeled with the size of coax cable you have and rotate the stripper several times. Slide the stripper off the end of the cable, leaving a short length of exposed metal mesh over a white dielectric from which the central core of the coaxial cable projects a bit further. Repeat this process for the other end to be spliced.

    • 3). Push the compression connectors onto the stripped cable ends such that the central core projects, unbent, through the center and the dielectric rests against the stop at the back of the connectors. One at a time, insert the ends into the indicated position on the compression tool and squeeze it's handle, crimping the connectors onto the cable. This seal should be tight and, if done correctly, will be highly weather-resistant.

    • 4). Screw the two connectors into the ends of a barrel connector, making sure to tighten them firmly so as to promote a secure connection.
