How to Hit Hybrid Clubs
- 1). Take a normal stance and setup. Place the ball at or near the middle of your stance.
- 2). Use a full swing rather than trying to punch the ball. Extend the backswing as far as is normally comfortable for you while keeping your head still and limiting your hip turn.
- 3). Bring the club in at a downward attacking angle on your downswing. Don't try to sweep the ball off the ground as you might with a fairway wood. Crisp, downward-moving contact is the secret to high ball flight, so don't be afraid to take a divot.
- 4). Maintain balance throughout your swing; don't strain and lose control. Keep the clubface square to the target at impact. The secret of hybrid clubs is that they carry their center of gravity low and to the rear, which helps elevate the ball's trajectory but you must make solid contact for the club to help your shot.
- 5). Practice, practice, practice. Adjusting to the feel and look of an entirely new type of club can take time. Hit your hybrids from the fairway, from the rough, from sand traps and off the tee. The more comfortable you are with a hybrid, the better you'll hit it.
