    Connect a Standard Definition Sony

    • 1). Unplug the Sony from the electricity.

    • 2). Connect the plug on one end of the S-video cable to the matching S-video socket on the back panel of the Sony. The four pins in the plug must line up with the holes in the socket.

    • 3). Push the plug on the other end of the cable into the S-video socket on the back of the surround sound receiver.

    Connecting RGB Composite Cable

    • 1). Unplug the Sony from the electricity.

    • 2). Improve the picture quality on the Sony by inserting the red, green and blue video plugs on one end of the RGB cable into the RGB input jacks on the back of the television. RGB separates the video signal into three channels for better image resolution, resulting in a sharper picture.

    • 3). Plug the RGB cables on the other end into the color-matching video output jacks on the surround sound receiver's back panel.

    Connect an HDTV Sony

    • 1). Unplug the Sony from the electricity.

    • 2). Connect the plug on one end of an HDMI (High Definition Media Interface) cable to an HDMI input jack on the rear of the Sony HDTV. Turn the plug so the wider edge faces upward. This digital connection delivers high-definition video.

    • 3). Insert the plug on the other end to an HDMI output jack on the rear of the receiver.
