Home and Garden
I was an a High Voltage Underground contractor for 25 Yrs back in the day. The contracts were good and sometimes risky. I had one son burned very bad, very sad It took me many places, some not so interesting. I had contracts on large dam installations, Colleges, Government installations, off shore oil wells on ocean cable and the other side of the coin in the hot desert
The contracts were off and on, so I had a lot of time to work on the house that I bought, a Ranch style home on a grade. Not to steep but it allowed me to landscape the back yard into four levels about a two foot drop on each level. I used old railroad ties to make the retainers and covered each level with flag stone. It took awhile. I planted flower beds and built a couple of shade covers. I already had big shade trees which helped a lot.
On the third level I put in a 9000 gal Koi pond, dug it out to 6 foot and made it 15 by 10 . My son and I dug it all out by hand, boy did that take awhile. Then I put in the pluming so the pond could be flushed out periodically and with ease. I plumed in the water filling line and the line to the filter which I ran through a infrared light to kill the algae and then on to the filter to clean the small debris out. From there I went to a water fall I had built to give the whole setting a feeling of tranquility. I had to build a shade over the pond so the Koi wont get sun burnt. The whole project turned out to be a success, the water stayed crystal clear and you could see the beautiful Koi perfectly. I had purchased some really nice fish from a Japanese Koe farmer. Really quite expensive .
So after that part of my landscaping I started to get bored so I went to getting plants and planting them everywhere, not to make it to massive with them. Like I said I had lots of beautiful Pepper Trees, so I went to hanging about 25 hanging baskets of epiphyte, they produce a beautiful large flower different colors for about a week or so, Now came the task of watering, I installed an automatic drip system to all my gardens and hanging baskets, but of course that had to be maintained or it would clog up with alkaline. For my little patch of grass in the front of the house I installed a sprinkler system to get the grass and my flowers I had planted of the bank out next to the street.
I didnt do all this alone, I put my wife to work, who was a workaholic, Oh and I had my beautiful white German Sheppard to cheer me on,
So I got bored again and had some space out in the back that I decided to built a three space trailer park . Run electric and water to all three spaces and a septic system to all the spaces. A natural run off was going through that part of my property so I run in underground in a 24 conduit and covered it up so I could use all of the property. I build four sheds for the people to use for storage Oh yes I was contracting High Voltage Underground work all this time. My wife and I really enjoyed it when it was done, but I never feel like anything is done. I just feel like there is another day put to good use. Well that is enough about I I I . I would like to tell about my web site with a theme of Home and Garden check it out. [http://www.lddoesit.com]
