As a freelance writer are you making your writing pay? Or are you, like so many other freelance writers out there, getting frustrated by the difficult and often lengthy task of getting published in the traditional print media and then waiting to get paid for it? When people think of freelance writers they generally think of people who write short stories and articles for magazines and newspapers.
Not often does anyone think about freelance writing on the internet.
And yet the internet provides almost unlimited and varied opportunities for the freelance writer.
If you are interested in trying to make your writing pay through the internet this article will give you 3 steps you can take to get started.
First Step: Establish your presence on the internet by setting up a blog.
On the "about" page construct a detailed resume about you and your achievements.
Make it interesting but ensure it showcases your talents.
You could even include additional pages with samples of your work, whether they have been published or not.
Second Step: Search for freelance writing projects on the internet.
Type in search terms, in any of the many search engines like Google, yahoo, msn etc, to do with freelance writing projects, freelance assignments and the like.
You will be amazed at the number of opportunities you will find.
Decide which of the many you find appeal to you and register with them.
Third Step: On the sites you have registered with decide which projects are of interest to you and then bid on them, always making sure in your own mind you will be able to deliver the goods should you be awarded the work.
Initially to establish yourself you may have to bid low but once you have done several projects and established a bit of a reputation you will be able to increase your rates.
Making your writing pay is not difficult if you are prepared to look beyond the traditional markets.
