The Lincolnshire Horse Trials are set to take place again from the 16th to the 18th March 2012 at the stunning Lincolnshire Showground.

Organised by the Lincolnshire Agricultural Society, the Lincolnshire Horse Trials is a popular and well established horse show event held early in the season, attracting national and international entrants. This year's event is expected to draw previous participants and Olympic hopefuls such as William Fox-Pitt, Pippa Funnell, Nicola Wilson and Piggy French.

Local riders are also expected to showcase their talents, including Rosalind Canter from Louth and Deborah Doyle from Lincoln, who both had wins in the BE100 sections last year. Helen Scholl from Grantham, who won one of the Novice sections in 2011 and Gina Ruck from Tealby who won the Open Intermediate Under 21 Section.

The Lincolnshire Showground is recognised as an excellent horse riding event location for the early season because the flat, well drained ground which is a good proving ground for both horse and rider. The 200 acre showground that is the Lincolnshire Events Centre is owned by the Lincolnshire Agricultural Society and is located in the heart of the county in Lincoln.

Each day of this three day event is focused on a particular class, giving visitors the chance to see all events each day, cross country, dressage and show jumping. Day one is focussed on the BE100 and Open BE100 classes, day two is focussed on the Novice and Open Novice plus Pony Trial dressage and show jumping and day three is focussed on the Intermediate and Open Intermediate classes plus Pony Trial cross country.

Nearly two thousand visitors attended last year's Lincolnshire Horse Trials event over the three days, and the competitors and their support staff bring the same number again to the Showground site at Grange de Lings, providing a welcome boost to the local economy.

Entry on Saturday and Sunday is 5 per car to include all occupants.

The Lincolnshire Horse Trials 2012 will take place from March 16th to March 18th. Come and see some of our Olympic hopefuls compete in Lincolnshire ahead of the July games.
