How to Mow a Fence Line with a Brush Hog
- 1). Fill the brush hog engine with gasoline and press the primer bulb below the oval-shaped air filter three times.
- 2). Slide the control switch to the "On" or "Run" position, depending on your model, and pull the starter cord to crank the brush hog's engine. Adjust the control lever to the desired engine speed.
- 3). Pull up on the self-propel lever to activate the drive wheels on the brush hog. Steer the equipment using the two handles toward the edge of the fence, and then release the self-propel lever.
- 4). Line up the left wheels as close as possible to the first fence post. The wheel base on your particular brush hog determines how close you can get to the posts.
- 5). Engage the self-propel lever as you steer the brush hog along the fence line. Pull back on the engine-speed lever or throttle control if you are working on rough terrain. This prevents the brush hog from lunging across uneven land and possibly colliding with the fence. You can increase the speed as you become more comfortable guiding the brush hog in close quarters with a fence or other obstacles.
