It is not an easy thing to stop smoking, it requires will power and determination just to control the cravings that will accompany the withdrawal step. As a smoker tries to cleanse their body from the nicotine that they have built up over time, the body will continue to look for nicotine to be able to function as it is accustum. The cravings will urge the smoker to just continue smoking so that the body can carry on as per routine. This is where your determination and strength of mind will come in. You need to fight off the urge in order to start a non-smoking life.

Most smokers who are in the process of stopping smoking resort to medication to assist them during the withdrawal step. Several medicines that are publicized are offered to the public to help defeat your cravings, and they are designed to give pleasure to your brain in the same way that the nicotine does. This type of medication can cause the smokers to feel the same feelings as if they had just had a ciggerete so there is really no need for the smokers to actually puff a cigarette.

Despite the medication, you will have to heep in mind that you will need to exert effort in order for you to successfully overcome the urge to smoke. The first few days will be the toughest, so be prepared to face the difficulty. Remember though. IT IS WORTH IT.

Try to stay away from things which might remind you of smoking.

You may want to avoid places and people where smoking takes place.. For some people, they try to replace a cigarette with health food and some turn to excsise. Many have used chewing gum as a good habit replacer. If your hands crave something to hold on to, try to replace the cigarette stick with a pen. If you go out and associate smoking with drinking, then you may need to avoid drinking alcohol, but sometimes just a change of venue is needed. Keep your mind off smoking, and keep yourself busy so that you wont be constantly tempted to smoke.

Do not think that a single ciggerte will have no effect on your struggle, otherwise you will be starting from the very beginning again. Do not be afraid to ask for help

I personaly found hynotherapy very effective and also well worth looking into.
