Putting a child in a walker will deprive him of this benefit.

When a child feels warm and secure then it is much easier for parents to reach out to him and at the end he is able to grasp whatever learning is being introduced to him.
I believe that in giving a child freedom of learning, the child will be more motivated to learn in areas of his interest which towards the end he will excel successfully.
As a parent, it is necessary to always provide guidance, encouragement and exposure to the child in areas that of beneficial to him.
