    Sponge Painting

    • Cut cheap sponges into shapes to create a nest with birds painting. Thin rectangular shapes for the nest and oblongs for eggs would work well. For the birds, use differently sized round shapes -- a smaller one for the head and a slightly larger one for the body. Dip the sponge pieces in poster paint and stamp them onto paper to make a nest with eggs and hatchlings. Use markers for the eyes and beaks.

    Construction Paper and Paper Plate

    • Choose a piece of construction paper of any color for the background. Cut a paper plate in half and glue it to the lower part of the construction paper, leaving the top open to create a pocket. This is the nest base. Cut up thin strips of brown and black construction paper and haphazardly glue them to the paper plate to resemble the twigs of the nest. You could use tissue paper as well.

Make baby birds using colorful construction paper and slip them into the top of the nest, securing with glue. Use googly eyes on the birds as a final touch.

    3D Nest with Birds

    • Scrunch a brown paper lunch bag into a cup shape to act as the nest and glue a few twigs from outdoors onto the bag for a more realistic look. Line the nest with very thin strips of green construction paper or green-colored Easter grass.

Dip cotton calls into water containing a couple drops of yellow food coloring and let dry. Fluff out the cotton balls and glue two together to make the hatchling body. Glue on googly eyes and a bit of orange pipe cleaner for the mouth and sit the bird into a clean half eggshell. Make several of these birds and add to the nest.

    Tissue Paper Collage

    • Wad up pieces of tissue paper in shades of brown and black and glue them in a nest shape onto construction paper. Use smaller pieces of wadded tissue paper for the birds and glue them down into bird shapes. Use googly eyes and marker for the beak. Attach broken pieces of eggshell over the bird bodies for a newly hatched effect.
