How to Troubleshoot a Viewsat 2000
- 1). Check the remote control to make sure it is set to the "Satellite" mode and not "TV" mode. Press the "Satellite" button to control the receiver and not any other electronic device.
- 2). Look to make sure the television is set to the correct input. If the receiver is connected to the television via the "Video" port but you have the television set to the TV tuner you can't watch the programming. This is an easy mistake and you can correct it by press the "Video" button on the remote control.
- 3). Look to see if anything is blocking the view of the satellite dish. This can disrupt the signal image. Trees or snow are often culprits, but heavy cloud cover and wind can also cause issue with the reception.
- 4). Look at the cable connection in the back of the Viewsat. Make sure the coaxial cable coming in from the wall is connected completely into the "In" port on the Viewsat receiver. Likewise make sure the cable running from the receiver to the TV is connected.
- 5). Contact the company that installed the satellite dish. You may need to adjust the satellite dish location or the direction its pointed. Often times extreme weather can move the satellite dish so it is no longer in alignment.
