How to Make Landscaping Mulch Look New
- 1). Purchase mulch dye from a garden center or home improvement store.
- 2). Pour the mulch dye solution into a garden-size sprayer, either manual or powered.
- 3). Add the amount of water recommended by the dye manufacturer to the sprayer.
- 4). Shake the sprayer gently to mix the dye and water solution.
- 5). Place small pieces of plastic sheeting over any plants, shrubs and garden edgers nearby to prevent them from being dyed.
- 6). Hold the sprayer in front of you and point it at a 45-degree angle toward the ground. Begin spraying in long, even strokes across the mulch. Continue spraying the mulch until the entire area is covered.
- 7). Allow the mulch to dry completely, which usually takes about two hours. Use a rake to gently rake the top of the mulch and turn it over to expose any mulch that was not dyed.
- 8). Use the sprayer to apply a second layer of dye to the top of the mulch and allow to dry completely.
