How to Knit Holes in Scarves
- 1). Cast on the number of stitches, according to your pattern, and work until you are ready to make a hole.
- 2). Work a yarn over by bringing the yarn forward so that is in front of your needles. This creates a new stitch to replace the decrease that you are about to make.
- 3). Knit the next two stitches together, if you are on a knit row. To do this, insert the working needle into the front of the next two stitches. Wrap the yarn over the right needle and knit the two stitches as you would for one.
- 4). Purl the next two stitches together, if you are on a purl row. To do this, bring the yarn to the front of your work and insert the working needle into the front of the next two stitches. Wrap the yarn over the needle and purl the two stitches as you would for one.
- 5). Continue to knit or purl the next stitch or make another hole.
- 6). Keep the yarn over on the needle and knit or purl it on the next row, according to your scarf pattern instructions.
