Science fair projects about plants, or botany, can take many forms. They can involve the study of how different factors (i.e. light, temperature, music) affect growth or an in-depth study of the process of photosynthesis.  Your child may want to do a comparison of fruit-bearing plants vs.non-fruit bearing plants or look at the similarities and differences between deciduous and evergreen trees.

Animal science is a large topic, making for a huge number of projects to choose from. Insects are a popular topic, encompassing everything from looking at the life cycle of a butterfly to which breeds of insects thrives in certain environments. Your child can also choose to explore questions about mammals, amphibians, birds and even the ever-exciting extinct dinosaur.

Environmental Science and Ecology

Environmental science and ecology doesn’t just mean looking at the world around your child. It can also mean studying the effects of recycling, experimenting to find the greenest and most effective household cleaners or projects about various types of pollution (sound, electric,air, etc.).?

The human body is a wonder and a trove of ideas for science fair projects. From projects about the five senses to exploring the effects of good dental hygiene to a closer look at the muscles, heart and circulatory system, your child has a lot to choose from.?

Though the human brain is a part of the human body, when it comes to science fair projects, the brain deserves a category all of its own. Your child can find a number of things to hypothesize about, from whether boys learn differently than girls to whether age plays a role in how memory works. The psychological and neurological questions about how the brain learns are endless.?
