    • 1). Go to Malibu, California to visit the Self-Realization Fellowship Lake and Shrine. The shrine is located at 17190 Sunset Boulevard near the beach. From Santa Monica, you should take the Pacific Coast Highway north for three miles, turning right onto Sunset Boulevard. The shrine's entrance will be on your right.

    • 2). Visit the shrine during its open hours. The shrine is closed on Mondays and can be quite busy on Sundays as people attend religious services on the grounds. You can find information on the services at Lakeshrine.org. During the week, visitors are welcome from 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. on Tuesdays through Saturdays and from 12:30 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. on Sundays.

    • 3). Walk the pathways toward the west side of the lake. Look for the large Golden Lotus Archway. The archway is visible from most places within the park so you can use the landmark to find where you need to be.

    • 4). Enter the Gandhi World Peace Memorial by going through the Golden Lotus Archway. You can enjoy the gardens here as well as the memorial itself.

    • 5). Look for the white stone sarcophagus after you've entered the Gandhi World Peace Memorial. A portion of Gandhi's ashes are in the 1,000 year old Chinese sarcophagus that is located here.
