Seattle Thanksgiving Weekend Events

Thanksgiving weekend is one of the most eventful weekends in Seattle all year long. Not only does Thanksgiving take place on Thursday, but Black Friday and the official kick off to the holiday season follow the day after. Christmas light displays all throughout the Seattle area open up this weekend, as do holiday plays, shows, and other events. Even if you typically stay home to avoid the madness that is Black Friday, don’t write this weekend off! Keep an eye on the events calendar below and get out and enjoy Seattle and Tacoma’s fabulous lineup of fun.

1. November 27 – Thanksgiving Day

2. November 28 - Black Friday

Just about every mall, shopping center and many stand-alone stores (especially big box stores!) will open their doors bright and early for the craziest shopping day of the year. Some will even open on Thanksgiving evening! Here’s a list of local malls in Seattle and the South Sound to help you on your way.

3. November 29 – Small Business Saturday

To counter the mall madness and corporate nature of Black Friday, Saturday is Small Business Saturday. Seattle and Tacoma both are filled local shops galore. While there are local businesses downtown, perhaps the best places to explore the city’s small businesses are in the neighborhoods outside of downtown—Capitol Hill, West Seattle, Queen Anne and more are home to plenty of small businesses and boutiques. In Tacoma, the opposite is true and many local shops are clustered downtown, especially in Antique Row. Tacoma also has an online marketplace that ties many of its local businesses together into one easy, online shopping experience—Shop253
