Guidelines for Good Alfredo Sauce

Alfredo sauce is definitely my favorite kind of pasta sauce.
It is creamy, tangy, and turns an otherwise bland pasta dish into a filling and interesting meal.
There are a lot of ways to make this delicious sauce, however, so it is good to know the basic guidelines for what constitutes a decent sauce.
The most basic parts of an Alfredo sauce is the cream, butter, and cheese.
These should be of high quality, since they make up the base of the sauce and give it its distinctive character and flavor.
Make sure you get the best cream and cheese you can.
The preferred cheese is Parmesan cheese, but any other hard, dry Italian cheese works well also.
Beyond the base, you can add pretty much anything else to an Alfredo sauce recipe.
A good place to start is with various herbs.
Garlic, parsley, and Italian spices can add a great deal of flavor to an otherwise bland sauce.
Beyond those, you might consider adding shrimp or chicken.
Remember to add these at the end.
Cut them into small pieces so they cook quickly, and add them to the boiling sauce for 5-10 minutes or until they are cooked through.
Then serve the sauce immediately over a heaping plate of freshly boiled pasta.
The best pasta to serve Alfredo sauce over is long-noodle pasta, such as spaghetti or linguine.
With a side of crusty garlic bread and a glass or white wine, you've got yourself a perfect and simple Italian-style dinner.
