You want to be on Twitter and you ask, 'What is important about my Twitter profile? Just how do I set it up?' The answer is, there are really no hard fast rules for Twitter.
You'll hear many conflicting opinions.
I'm going to share with you my personal biased pinions from my experience with Twitter.
I suggest that you view my suggestions much like a buffet.
Pick what appeals to you and by-pass the rest.
Why Your Twitter Profile is Important The quality of your Twitter experience will be largely be determined by the quality of people that choose to follow you.
When evaluating whether to follow someone, people will look at your entire profile.
My Recommendations For Your Twitter Avatar Are:
  • Chose a close up photo of you.
You might wonder why a real photo and not a graphic, cartoon, your dog, or a your product.
Think of Twitter as a cocktail party.
Would you go to a cocktail party with a mask over your face? People want to know that you are a real person.
  • What if you don't have a close up photo? Find some group photos that include you and crop it.
There are some great software programs that enable you to do this.
I will describe a very simple way with Paint that comes with most PCs.
Press Start > All Programs > Accessories > Paint.
Open the file of a photo that includes you.
Use the rectangular tool to capture a close up of you.
Move the new image to the upper left corner.
Save with a new filename between these next steps in case you over delete.
Use Image > Attributes to delete the excess on the right and bottom of your captured photo.
I just guess on how much to decrease the dimension.
Finally, save it as a .
    jpg file.
Now you can insert your closeup photo on your Twitter site and other Social Networks.
  • Do not use the default Twitter avatar.
People will not trust people with the default avatar.
