How to Vacation in St. Louis
- 1). Visit the arch. The arch was completed in 1965 and has been the highlight of millions of tourist's memories ever since. There are two exhibits located in the arch, one in the north leg which offers visitors a look into the history of the arch and the south leg museum is a look into St. Louis during the 1800's. To get the full appreciation of the St. Louis Arch, plan to journey up the arch into the observation area by way of the tram.
- 2). Visit the Lewis and Clark Boat House and Nature Center. The Lewis and Clark Boat House and Nature Center is located just outside of St. Louis, in the town of St. Charles. The museum houses Lewis and Clark artifacts and memorabilia, including full-scale replicas of the boats used by the Lewis and Clark expedition team. While on the grounds of the museum, take a tour through the Walk of Discovery, a woodland walk exploring the plants and wildlife that are native to Missouri.
- 3). Visit the St. Louis Zoo. Tour the 90 acres that over 5,000 animals call home. The zoo's regular hours throughout the year are 9am-5pm, but the hours extend from 8am-7pm in the summertime. During the first hour that the park is opened, admission is free to the children's zoo, conservation, carousel or the dinosaur areas.
- 4). Visit The Magic House. If you are visiting St. Louis with children, a visit to The Magic House will be unforgettable as well as educational. Located in a 5,500-square foot Victorian house, The Magic House offer a special section designed for babies. Some exhibits are a permanent fixture in the musuem, such as, the Electrostatic Generator. - 5). Visit Six Flags. Located 30 miles south of St. Louis is Six Flags St. Louis. The park has a wide variety of rides ranging from children's rides to wild, thrilling roller coasters. In addition to the family friendly shows that are regularly seen at the park, Six Flags St. Louis hosts regularly scheduled concerts performed by today's popular artists.
