Is one-night stand worth it?

People think that one-night stands are cool. People think they are exciting. People go for it when they are drunk, happy, in search for something spicy, fleeing boredom, daring something new and untouched. In short, every one of us has had a one-night stand at some point of their lives.

A good friend of mine Nina told me the most exciting story of a one-night stand that she had in Paris. This was the most romantic story I have ever heard. Thus I am dying to share it with the world.

Nina is a very attractive tall brunette. Prior to her marriage, Nina had had a very turbulent dating life. She was bold and daring, dating differing people of various ages and from various walks of life. She was searching for this one special person by trial and error. She went to Paris on her own. It was one of her crazy adventures. She had no plans of meeting a guy. Just to walk and see the city. Just to breathe its air and be alone.

Yet, life decided differently. Nina met a guy. He came to her and asked her for a drink. He was so incredibly attractive that she could not refuse his offer. When they were sitting in a coffee shop, he did not hide his thoughts. He bluntly suggested that they have an adventure, as soon as he finishes his shift. There was something simple, outlandish and primordial in this offer. Nobody offered just sex to her – so bluntly, so passionately, and in such a masculine manner.

Strangely enough, she felt under no pressure. Looking at him she already knew the answer. She longed for him. Yet she was not saying either way for a while…. They agreed to meet in her hotel at night. Nina was waiting impatiently. She was not nervous. For she knew that they will part this very night. He showed her Paris that night. They drove revealing amazing views from his car window – all that makes Paris such a wonderful city.

After a very long night café crawl, in which they talked endlessly about life, relationships, love and disappointments, they ended up at his flat in the Northern Parisian outskirt. The passion they shared can only happen between people who have no clue about each other’s lives and vices and who long for one thing – to give unconditional physical love to one another.

He drove her back through Paris at 5.30 in the morning. The city was peaceful and clean. Charming calm of the streets and romantic sadness of their imminent parting was settling in. Nina had a very mixed feeling of pleasure and sorrow. She partially quenched her desire for freedom and adventure. She was in the midst of it all, and knew that it was rapidly coming to an end. Perhaps, it was sad to part with that adventure, that story, which later became so precious. Nina felt that she was in the middle of her search for love, yet she was in limbo between her dreams and reality.

Some doubts were roaming within her, telling that some part of her has been given away forever. That part, which Nina gave so generously and without reservations, was to disappear, leave her and stay in her past for good. What was that part? A chip of love? Something that she stole from herself or from her future husband? Or something that she has given to herself? Happiness, freedom, sadness, doubt, and pain – have you ever experienced all those feelings at once?

He wrote his number and handed it over to her. But she tore the piece of paper apart and boldly threw it away. There was no turning back. He kissed her gently and left the hotel. Nina hesitated for a while, listening him leave. She will never forget that hissing sound of his car tires on the Parisian street in that early September morning. The sound of vanishing happiness, lost hopes, unfulfilled dreams, or a lucky relief …. She knew that she would not have a one-night stand again.
