The long TaylorMade SpeedBlade Irons are cast from Carpenters steel for strength while the mid- and short irons are cast using 17-4 stainless steel, which is softer, to enhance feel. SpeedBlade is a game-improvement iron designed to build upon the successful RocketBladez platform or marrying a thin face with a "speed pocket" that enables the face to flex at impact, the result being a fasterballspeed with a higher launch.

The position of the slot low on the clubhead is an important factor, says Brian Bazzel, the company's director of iron, wedge and putter development, who noted company research that showed 72 percent of iron shots hit by five- to 25-handicappers are struck below the center of the clubface, resulting in a low launch and loss of ballspeed.

Compared to the TaylorMade RocketBladez Irons for sale, the speed pocket has been widened and lengthened to provide a more effective area near the heel and toe areas. The topline is also a bit thicker in the longer irons. The clubs boast a satin nickel chrome plating with a dark smoke satin ion plating. During the event each of the players hit some shots to demonstrate the zip on the clubs. Day hit several shots with a 3-hybrid and then a SpeedBlade 3-iron, the display resulting in fairly similar distances, but a better angle of descent with the iron.

Added Bazzel: "What I think everyone is going to notice right away is the feel of this product. We spent a lot of time getting the sound right, because sound is feel. The structure, the badging, the filler - all of that works in unison to not only perform great, but feel really good."

While the SpeedBlade's thicker toplines and wider soles should instill confidence for mid- and high-handicap golfers, Toulon says that accomplished players will benefit from the technologies designed into the new cheap golf clubs. "Sure, I'll take the extra yards," said Rose, who switched to TaylorMade RocketBladez Irons [http://www.golfsetau.com/Cheap-TaylorMade-RocketBladez-Irons-Sale-277.html] in his 3- through 6-irons earlier this year. "But it's the ability to get the extra distance with the height that matters.

"We had PGA Tour players that played the long irons… and a few guys played full sets, but there really wasn't too much use," Toulon said, "It was really 8- or 9-handicap players and above who would play it. We wanted to design this club so that we'd keep all the people at the high-end of the handicap range, but bring it down so that more players could experience it."
