Soldier in the French Army

My Past Life Memory: My dream began with me standing in the entry hall of a two story farmhouse. I had several soldiers standing about the hall with me. They were dressed as French light infantry from the Napoleonic wars. I looked down at myself and saw that I was dressed the same, and it suddenly came to me that I was the officer in charge of the pickets, soldiers set out in front of the main lines to give advance warning in case of an enemy attack.

As my soldiers moved to react, soldiers in green jackets and white trousers battered open the doors with bayonets fixed. (Later, from researching I found these uniforms to be Austrian.) I drew my pistol. I steadied myself, waited, and at the last possible moment fired. I dropped the soldier just before he could reach me. I let my pistol fall to the floor and immediately drew my saber.

I turned from this man to find several men coming at me as a group with their bayonets. I didn't have much time to figure this out, as a young soldier burst through the double doors yelling that we were being attacked. I ordered men to bar the door. I sent men to either side of the door to man the windows.

I mounted the stairs and backed up them to keep the men from getting as much force behind their bayonet thrusts. The rifles thudded against the stairs at my feet. I used my saber to hack at their arms. At this point, the thought popped into my head that no help would be forthcoming, and it would be only a matter of time before they killed me. The dream ended.
