    Recorder Does Not Operate

    • The T3040 may not operate sometimes as it may be set to the wrong function: First, make sure the device is properly set to "Record" or "Playback," depending on how you are using the machine. You can change the mode by pressing the "DVD" button. The mode will change between "Record" and "Playback" each time you press the button.

Other reasons for the device not working are safety features built into the machine to prevent damage to the T3040: If a "U14" message appears on the display when the device isn't working, it means the system is running too hot. Place the recorder in a better ventilated area and wait for "U14" message to disappear from the display before using the machine again.

You will need to reset the T3040 if another safety feature is keeping the machine from operating properly. To reset the machine, press the power button to place the machine in "Standby" mode. If pressing the power button does not place it in "Standby" mode, press and hold the power button for approximately 10 seconds to force it into "Standby" mode. Press the power button again to restart the machine. Any errors should then be cleared from the machine and it should work as normal.

    Picture and Sound Problems

    • Problems with the picture or sound are often the result of an improper connection between the T3040 and the television. Check that all of the wires are properly connected to the machine and to the television.

If the wires are inserted properly and you still have a problem with the picture, make sure that the television is set to the correct input setting. Most televisions need to be set to the "Video 1" or "Video 2" input channel, while some older televisions need to be set to channel "00," "03" or "04." Consult your television's instruction manual for more information on which channel to set.

If you still have problems with the sound after checking the connections, press the "Audio" button on the remote control to switch to a different audio setup. The T3040 has options for Stereo and Monoaural audio. Distortion may be heard when using the Stereo setting, and pressing the "Audio" button will switch to Monoaural.
