Not being able to sleep soundly at night could easily make you rise from bed and wander into the living room to watch some late night TV.
The next time you get this tendency, try walking into your kitchen for a super late-night snack.
You just might be surprised with the number of natural sleep aids right in your refrigerator.
Here are some suggestions.
If in general, you can sleep at night, but you'd like for the experience to be restful, you can increase your intake of foods rich in B vitamins.
This is because B vitamins make for stronger nervous system, and helps your body fall into better slumber, and even better dreams.
Foods you can take are nuts, dairy products such as warm milk or cheese, seafood, eggs and some seafood.
Carbohydrates which are slow burning allow for more restful nights.
You can try some oats, beans or some barley.
If your sleep issue is more on the regulating side, which means you cannot seem to achieve good sleeping patterns naturally and easily, you should take in more Vitamin B6, or tryptophan because it enhances levels of the feel good hormone, otherwise known as serotonin in the body.
Try some tuna fish or turkey, or heat up some milk.
Calcium has the same effect - it helps the release of serotonin.
So eat some oats, broccoli, seaweeds or some raw veggies.
Aside from your midnight snacks as natural sleep aids, you should also be careful about what you eat during the day.
Too much carbohydrate can keep you up, because of the energy your body has to burn.
Finally, avoid alcohol and caffeine at all costs, as they also mess your sleep-wake cycle even more.
