Idaho Law About State Employee Receipts of Gifts
- Legislators and other public servants are prohibited from accepting gifts from someone known to be interested in a bill or proceeding in return for legislative action. Trivial gifts valued at less than $50 and gifts conferred by family or personal contacts are excepted.
- Idaho Senate Bill No. 1375 (2004) prohibits any government official or public servant from accepting gifts from individuals who hope to do business with the government.
- No public servant who works in a regulatory department or agency, conducts inspections or investigations, litigates on behalf of the government or has custody of prisoners may accept gifts from a person "known to be subject to such regulation, inspection, investigation or custody, or against whom such litigation is known to be pending or contemplated," says the Senate Bill.
