Airlines Packing Regulations
- Many security-risk objects, such as sharp objects, large sporting goods, firearms, large tools and martial arts items, are banned. Most airlines limit travelers to a 22- to 24-inch bag and one personal item consisting of a purse, computer bag or other small bag.
- Sharp objects, sporting goods, firearms, large tools, and other items that are not allowed in carry-on baggage are generally allowed in check baggage, which you do not have access to during the flight. However, some items, including flares, gun powder and other explosives, are not allowed.
- Most airlines will allow two checked bags per passenger that weigh no more than 70 pounds each. Each bag also needs to be smaller than 62 linear inches, which is the total of the length, width and height added together. Some airlines will charge fees for overweight and additional baggage.
