Sin Is a Choice
The choices we make in life are either right or wrong.
No one have to twist your arm or hand to get you to respond with some of the choices we make.
"Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.
" James 4:17.
When Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden they made the wrong choice.
Genesis 3.
The world shows the glitter and glamour of life, neither are genuine as they seem, but are deceiving once you learn the truth of the consequences from the actions that are contrary to Godly principles.
To live a life in an ungodly manner, not believing in God or following His ways leads to a life of self-destruction.
"The fear of the wicked will come upon him, and the desire of the righteous will be granted.
" Proverbs 10:24.
We all have the choice of how we live.
When we fear God living in righteousness; we have eternal life expectations of being in His presence one day in Heaven.
As Christians we should not wink at sin because it will cause us trouble.
"He who winks with the eye causes trouble, but a prating fool will fall.
" Proverbs 10:10.
We cannot not become friends with sin; because sin contaminates, is dangerous, destroys, separates, and is self-destructive; eventually causing spiritual death.
"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
" Romans 6:23.
The Apostle Paul ask the Roman Christians several questions pertaining to their lifestyle of whom they would obey; the works of sin or being obedient to the calling on their lives; living in righteousness? "Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one's slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness? But God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered.
And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness.
" Romans 6:16-18.
We can serve one of two masters, but we cannot serve them both.
God is not involved in any sins we commit.
He sees and knows about them, but He is not participating in any of them.
He allows sin to happen in our lives because hopefully sooner than later we will open our hearts and eyes to want to change and be cleansed from all unrighteousness.
God uses sin to get our attention, to show us we are weak at times and we need to depend on Him with our every day decision making.
He will use the sin as a judgment to chastise us and to get us to turn from it and start living our lives in a God honoring manner; rather than self-indulgence.
The Apostle Peter sums up that chastisement begins with the children of God and those who do not obey the gospel of God.
"For the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God? Now "If the righteous one is scarcely saved, where will the ungodly and the sinner appear? I Peter 4:17-18.
Sin is a choice; let us make the right choice to please and honor the Lord.
